The World’s Greatest Gamer features two teams of gaming creators, Team Villains (red) and Team Heroes (blue). The teams competed as players from both teams were slowly eliminated, until there was 1 creator remaining. The event amassed a live viewership of over 112,500 people!
This event was shot at OffBrand’s studio and utilized 6 cameras. Two were handhelds and 4 were PTZs. 3 PTZs were dedicated to the casters and one was in the back, behind the World’s Greatest sign.
Similarly at Ludwig’s Streamer Games, 2 PTZs were cross shooting the casters and 1 served as a wide. However, behind the casters by the statues, guest appearances were made. The two-cross shooting PTZs needed to pan up to capture these contestants.
Here is an example of a PTZ panned up to the left guest microphone.
The stream had a bunch of funny moments and quirks. Here’s Slime testing the quality of the production design by punching it.
Here’s an image of Void on the right podium. Ludwig is bestowing his victory medal after a long 2 days.
Before the stream started, I discovered a few neat static shots that I rack focused with. We used these for backgrounds on our full screen CGs throughout the show.
Here’s Team Hero and Team Villains captured from PTZs. These are suspended vertically on trusts. Sometimes I used these PTZs to capture reactions from creators during their warm ups or intermission. Reactions from in-game were captured with their webcams.
The wide-angle image on the left uses the 4th PTZ to capture VR, Pong, and the Killer Queen arcade machine. The image on the right was taken using a PTZ from Team Villain’s side with a long zoom. While that PTZ wasn’t originally planned for long-zoom coverage, it ended up working well.
From this image, 2 PTZs are in the bottom corners of the game for reaction shots. The Team Villains PTZ on the left side is displayed with a long zoom, and the right contestant is being viewed from the same 4th PTZ in the back.
Some close ups during the casting commentary and the event poster.
