Coachella Valley Firebirds
At Acrisure Arena, I am the in-house director for all sporting events. Primarily, this is the official team arena for the Coachella Valley Firebirds, an AHL hockey team that is a minor league for the Seattle Kraken. Other sporting events also happen here. Notably their annual NCAA D1 Basketball Series (Acrisure Series), AHL All-Star Classic, and Cactus Cup, or other events such as graduation ceremonies.
As director, I am responsible for directing live cuts, videos, and displaying graphic elements on the video board to ~12,000 fans each game. A typical game involves showing the US anthem, hyping up fans, mini games during intermissions, promotional videos, live cuts during game time (between a wide, reverse, tight, and handheld cam, and instant replays). We also work closely with many major elements, such as spotlights, pyro features, their mascot Fuego, and considering their tons of regulars.
Hockey has a ton of fan entertainment, and elements will be displayed constantly on the board, similar to broadcast. However, the type of show is different since we are focused on entertainment that encourages in-person engagement.
